Our Facilities

We have an undercover outside area plus a fenced garden/play area where the children have the opportunity to ride on bikes, use a trampoline, climbing activities and ball play.

The garden area is used for planting seeds, vegetables, herbs and flowers. We have a wildlife area where the children can look at the habitats of birds, insects and other animals.

Our outside play area is accessible to the children at all times.

At First Friends we offer a range of activities to support all areas of the curriculum. The emphasis is to learn through play and enable the children to choose from a selection of accessible resources. This enables them to use their interests to learn and develop.

We also provide adult led activities to enable the children to gain new experiences and develop their learning in all areas.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum focusing on each child developing uniquely and at their own pace.

The E.Y.F.S incorporates seven areas of learning-:

Personal Social and Emotional Development

Communication and Language

Physical Development

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

Our continuous provision and planned activities are designed to cover all these areas.

We encourage British Values being kind to others and working together. We have strong links with the community and local Primary School to support this.

Children are regularly observed and assessed to check their development. We work in partnership with parents to continue their child’s development. We have assessment tools to enable us to identify where extra support may be needed.

Between the ages of 2 and 3 children are given a two year progress check in the areas of Personal Social and Emotional Development, Physical development and Communication and Language. This can help to identify possible areas of delay. We can then provide the appropriate support for families to ensure no child gets left behind.
